Back At It

Hello friends and family!

I don’t say “friends and family” as two separate designations, but one. Everyone receiving this letter has a foot in both of those camps. It’s been quite an interesting few weeks hasn’t it? I truly do not know what the world will look like by the time this letter gets to you. However, as I sit on my couch in Sheboygan during Spring Break (of my last year at Liberty University!), I am confident of a few things.

1). God is not surprised by current events. He saw exactly what 2020 was going to look like and he knows what acts of service we will complete in the coming days. God’s Word says that we must walk in the works He has prepared for us beforehand (Eph. 2:10).

2). There is so much need for the Gospel in this world, now more than ever. People need hope! Romans 5:2-5 describes how Christians, because of the justification they have in Christ, rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts as the Holy Spirit. Joy and hope in trials can only come through Christ and his finished work!

3). Our goal as Christians has not changed. Now as always, we must strive to advance the Gospel in order to give this world a reason for the hope that we have (1 Pet. 3:15)! God is softening the soil for his Word to be spread. The harvest is indeed plentiful!

In light of these things, my ministry at Lake Lundgren Bible Camp is still at the forefront of my mind. The kids who come to camp this summer will have many questions. They will be coming out of a rather traumatic experience most likely. This means that the atmosphere at LLBC may be marginally different. What won’t be different is our heart and goal as a staff. Just as I did last summer and the staff at camp has done for the past 85 years, the Gospel will be proclaimed daily.

This summer, my role at camp has been tweaked a little since last year. I will be serving all summer long as the Assistant Program Director (APD). This role involves being on stage in front of the campers and emceeing chapels, dinners, and other events during the week. As my friends, you all know that this is a role where I will be very, very comfortable.  Again, I will be in this position with the singular goal of advancing the Gospel to the campers at LLBC. We are in the business of removing barriers so that the Spirit can do the work of changing hearts and minds. I look forward to being on the frontlines of that work.

As you know, this job requires that I raise support. It is here that you all (and more importantly the Almighty Hand of God) come in. I need to raise at least $1,050, but my goal is to raise the max amount of money: $4,000. I know that the Lord will provide exactly the amount I need. As someone who is about to move on from undergrad and move into Graduate School, I am attempting to become as financially independent as I can in the coming year. I ask that you would consider donating to my ministry at LLBC this summer. Last year, I saw hearts changed and kids come to Christ every week. Your contributions were directly linked to those victories.

Giving can be done in two ways. 1). Online through www.llbc.org. On this website you can click on the “Give” tab. On this page there is "Designate fund amounts" tab. My name (Lucas MacDonald) is found under the "Summer staff" section of this tab. You can fill out the rest of the information on this page and press the "Review your donation" button to complete the process. 2). If you would prefer to not donate online, checks can be sent to LLBC at N18250 Lake Lane, Pembine, WI 54156. Checks should be addressed to Lake Lundgren Bible Camp in order to be tax-deductible, but make sure you specify that you are donating to Lucas MacDonald. Please call me or text me with any questions (920) 917-8045.

Whether you give financially or not, I ask that you pray for me and the rest of SST as we prepare for this summer. Pray for unity for the team, pray for the hearts of campers to be prepared, pray for safety in travel, pray for all of the aspects of summer camp that you can think of! Especially pray for Troy Meissner as he moves into the Camp Director role this summer. I cannot stress enough that your prayers are coveted.

“Nothing of eternal significance happens apart from prayer” -Jerry Falwell Sr.

Thank you all for your past and future contributions. I am consistently humbled and blessed by God’s faithfulness to me through all of you and His own goodness. My upcoming months will be filled with expectancy of God’s provision and confidence in the efficacy of His Gospel. May it be proclaimed by you and me both!

In Christ,
Luke MacDonald
